History of Starcatcher Studio
My name is Lee Silva. I began creating glass art in the early 1990s, after taking a stained glass class with an artist friend, at a quaint glass studio in coastal Massachusetts. Small, useful items were my favorite to produce, such as candle holders, jewelry boxes, ornaments, and especially jewelry!
My teachers were a husband-and-wife team who were excited about the future of glasswork and tried to keep up with cutting edge methods.
They introduced me to dichroic glass and fused or warm glass (glass fired in a kiln), and this quickly became my favorite medium.
I sold my jewelry at craft shows for several years in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Then, in 1998, my daughter Sophie was born. I continued to create glass jewelry on a smaller scale, while enjoying being a stay-at-home mom for her first five years. I then worked full-time in a local non-profit agency for seventeen years and am now happily retired!
I live in Scarborough, Maine, with my partner Al, my daughter Sophie, our mouse-hunting cat Rosie,
and our sweet, lively cockapoo Winnie.
Fused Dichroic Glass Jewelry
Delight in the sparkle and bright colors
of dichroic glass. These unique, one-of-a-kind, jewelry items are created by layering pieces of dichroic glass and firing (fusing) them in a kiln,
to between 1350°F and 1500°F.
The results are always a dazzling surprise.
We hope you love them!
"Cultured" Sea Glass
The popularity of authentic sea glass has grown tremendously in recent years, but so has the scarcity of natural or genuine sea glass.
As a result, man-made or “cultured” sea glass
has become popular with many jewelry designers.

"Cultured" Sea Glass
The popularity of authentic sea glass has grown tremendously in recent years, but so has the scarcity of natural or genuine sea glass.
As a result, man-made or “cultured” sea glass
has become popular with many jewelry designers.
This stunning frosted glass, made mostly of recycled glass material, is created to mimic the natural beauty of sea glass found along the ocean shores, but with a much bigger color range, and more uniform shapes.
We embellish these pieces with crystals, pearls, beads, silver wrapping and other silver components to bring out the beauty of the sea.
